2008-01-24 Cave Men!

This is the famous Moto-culteur, note it only has two wheels!
it is so handy, they managed to reverse it into the cave, so they could load the soil/rocks straight on to it.
as you can see in this picture, not every idea, is a good idea, trying to turn left out of the cave and then reversing on to the road here.....but the moto-cuteur had other ideas and sank deeply into the soil so they had to go forward until they could swing it around a tree...........note the onlookers in the picture, i think someone was still working inside the cave.
ah yes, the onlookers have another idea !!!
you can see the soil/rocks that were on the floor of our cave. it was taken down to Patrick and Anik's and is now making a good dam along the road side to PREVENT water going into their house!

2008-01-24 more January pics

All the 'stuff' from the cave is taken to another house in the village.

note the lovely weather!!yes all this stuff, what is it exactly???

to those who have seen this scene in summer, this is what it looks like after the rain.
(its the bridge at St Etiennne)

an arc en ciel (rainbow) over the graveyard, how apt!

the view one morning looking down on the clouds, we had always thought it would be cold on the side of a mountain, but in winter, its very often warm and sunny here and below the cloud well colder!

2008-01-06 Not such a wonderful start for us !!

Well we cant have it all ways can we??

We live in the wonderful mountains and in mountains you get extreme weather............Hot/Cold/Rain or Snow it seems to do nothing by halves!

Here are OUR New Year pictures after 3 days of continuous rain, we found a river in the cave, opposite diagonal corner to the door, flooding 1/2 the floor to about 2" deep, Dave had to cut a channel through the cave, and out of the door to the road to release the water, and spent yesterday moving all foodstuff back upstairs, and non food stuffs to a holiday house in the village, which we happen (luckily) to have keys for ..............Thanks Simon & Julie!! (we will move it all back, promise!!) unfortunately more rain is predicted for today, but as yet its only drizzle, next week is forecast to brighten up.........hooray!!!!
