Where’s goldie ? well i think there were about 30 goldfinches in this charm.
Lastly, I have pictured this “insect” before but still have no idea what it is, it appears to be covered in stones or stone dust…….the graph is 0.5cm squares…please can someone ID him ??
Both of these treats are a bit nostalgic for me and a friend!
Lamingtons a traditional Australian treat, which I made for an Australian friend about to leave the country, she said they were just like she remembers :O)
Sponge, dipped in chocolate/chocolate icing rolled in desiccated coconut.
These are Pied de Mouton (sheeps feet) mushrooms, called hedgehog mushrooms in the UK.
The nostalgic theme here was that my mushroom cook book, suggested they were cooked in drop scone (well they called them pancakes) which I used to make as a child on the electric stove which had 2 rings and a hotplate on the top which I used to drop the mixture on to….and hope it came off !!
The pancake mix was mixed with lots of finely chopped mushroom, then a few mushrooms were sliced and left whole for the decoration.

We planned a fire for the 5th, and it rained:O( …..so we had it on the 7th after a glorious day and under a beautiful starry sky :O)
You may have to use your imagination as my camera (and me) were a bit slow….either that or fireworks move very quickly…..
You are free to make banging/whizzing/whooping sounds…we all did…after explaining what this firework ritual was about, to people who thought (knew) we were already MAD !
We had hot pumpkin and ginger soup, mulled wine (which was still quite alcoholic…as I found out) and we forgot to do the chestnuts……quelle surprise :O)
