Now the autumn clear up.

meanwhile i was sorting through the compost heap, separating the compost from the very large grubs......i expect they are big beetle grubs, but they process the compost at such a terriffic rate, they are worth keeping !!

2007-09-17 Vultures !!

WE couldn't believe our eyes !!5 large Black Vultures circling over Cailho,

was it the locals, or the smell of burning pig from the previous weeks fire???

this is the photo which was the decider on the species, up until this we were thinking we had seen Golden Eagles...........

i hope one day they will pass through again, there is a colony living in the Gorge de Tarn which might be where they were from.

2007-07-20 The Tour De France comes through St Etienne.

Apparently at this point we have already missed the 'freebies' caravan and it will be a full 2 hours before the bikes flit through.....

2007-07-18 Frances and David/ Market at Vias Plage

And we go to see Frederic and Almuth at their market at Vias Plage a few days later.

2007-07-01 Now we are 3

Now Tish and Tosh have left home and gone to live in the forest .......with a Newfoundland and an Alsatian...........so now we have all mummy's attention !!!

2007-06-24 Our 1st year anniversary party

Well incredibly we have lived in Cailho for a year now.........so time for a party, how many people will come, will we have enough chairs, food and DRINK !!!!
Altogether 36 people attend including Mum and Jen from UK and Tom, Karine and Jonathan from the Ardeche, but amazingly nearly all people from the village and surrounding Hamlet/single dwelling come as well, we are so pleased, the drink does last with plenty over, and the food (mainly Veggie) goes down a treat, and recipes are asked for!!!
lastly we had not realised how generous people were going to be with presents (which we had not expected) ranging from a chestnut wood platter(just under the meat in the picture) to a paperweight, a large quantity of bottles of wine including Champagne, and bunches of flowers, to the wonderful black cherry Clafoutis presented still hot from the oven!!
