2008-04-18 concrete gets laid....

Didier with a barrow, stephane and Rudy do the leveling.....

Rudy leveling the concrete in the cave...

Pierre, Stephane, and Didier dissus the next move !

Dave watches Lillu sink into the concrete...

Rudy fills in the trench left by the leveling wood, and 15mins later all in finished..

2008-04-18 Concrete arrives !

On a beautiful morning in Cailho-le-Haut.........................when the rest of the valley were still in the mist...............We.....

had the delivery of ready mix concrete for the cave, it arrived via the piste vert, ( forest track) as the truck was not allowed to come up the usual route because of a weight limit on the bridge at the bottom.

Fortunately the driver is local to the area so knew the way, unfortunately no one told us that, and Dave and Rudy dutifully waiting in Premian to meet the truck, missed him and ended up chasing him up the rough track.....good job we have the 4x4 now!

He drove into the drive no problem, and the wheelbarrowing began, in haste as the drop off time was limited to 30mins, or we had to pay an extra 60€...........it was a bit like formula one for a time!

here is Alain getting a barrow load, even though he got there a bit late and some went on the floor!

2008-04-16 preparing for the concrete

the plastic is laid on top the gravel, and the reinforcing wires laid above the plastic, the wood is for levelling the concrete.
see how big it looks........big enough for a party??

That's a good idea, lets get married, so we can have a party in here, 2 weeks, OK that sounds good !!

2008-04-16 the gravel gets laid.......

looks a lotit makes the cave seem bigger somehow, just lighter i suppose.

we employed child labour, he's good, but does have to break off occasionally to shoot a passing Indian (for those of you who don't know, Lillu is usually a cowboy)
must be a pastis break for grown ups, but the kid kept working !!

he is also a poser !!!
