2009-11-29 Kaki tree

This is a beautiful tree half way to St Pons from us, the first year we thought it was oranges.......but it is in fact Persimmion, Kaki or Sharon fruit.

2009-11-29 Boletus

This is a Boletus Dave found on the way down from Dausse.

We think it is Boletus erythropus.....but if you think differently....please let us know, before we eat it !!!

2009- 11-28 The Allotment/Garden

We were very pleased to be given permission to use a garden/allotment, in Cailho-le-Bas.
It is about 200 m2 and has been used as a garden many years ago, but it will need a lot of digging!

Of course some manure is also needed..........so......

This is the sheep shed......

Jean-Luc, digging out the poo.....

And me doing a bit too....

Here is the Allotment.........quite big , lots of room for the tatties. Not too many weeds, we hope!!

Dave and Jean-Luc, mucking out the trailer.

A picture from the other end, that is Dave and Jean-Luc unloading the trailer.

2009-11-19 Mushrooms Mushrooms Mushrooms !!!

Ok, your right .......this is not a mushroom !!
A hummingbird hawk moth who was trying to hibernate in our cave, until we woke him/her up!

you dont often see them this still........

OK, unless you REALLY like mushrooms, look away, as there are plenty here, any +ve ID's would be helpful, we have 5 books and still can't find exact matches, needless to say these end up in the compost and not in our stomachs....! USUALLY ! Only Fun-guys from now on.

Either a cauliflower fungus or a coral fungus, some are edible, not quite sure about this one....compost.

This is the 'coral' fungus, the saffron milk cap and the chantrelles.......unfortunatly none of these "in the field" ID's were correct......................more compost!

NOW this IS a chantrelle, and because there was only 1 we left it behind.....

puff balls..........

Fly Agaric.....toxic, or apparently hallucccinanggggenic .........I wouldn't know!

A little ELF sitting on a toadstool !!!

Two Ceps from Maison Baker.

3 ceps, 2 dark brown on top, turning blue when cut, and 1 olive/brown 'ordinary' one.

If you zoom in you can see these weighed 1.2kg........when they were dried they weighed......38g ! about 3%....now i know why dried mushrooms are SO expensive!

Here they are all ready to dry in front of the fire.
Here is Granny Jane threading mushrooms....oh it's a hard life!

2009-11-18 New window 4 guest bedroom....

New Window in guest bedroom.
NOW hopefully we will have less head injuries .....
also as you see, like all builders these two started with a cup of tea!!

A bit of a gay pose?

and this is how it looks now!

as you can see, i only have to stoop a little to get in, then maybe Dave should have posed for this one?

from the inside you can see Dave and Karl took away the step and dropped the floor down, so it is after you are under the door frame you then step up into the room, i am sure the pic's will explain it better than I can !....

nice place to sit in the sun.....

new stones to direct the rain away from the door.
