2014-06-10 Slugs, tree, lizard and wasps

I am not a big fan of slugs, but these are fascinating…….well a bit !

they are about 10cm (4”)long and the black one has a wavy ridge down its back, we have had so much rain they are out munching the cherries……

I am hoping to include a video of this at the end of this post….it a Narrow (or thread) waisted wasps nest…she started building it behind a beam in our bedroom, and stopped when she had made 13 “cells” a good name as each one will contain a stunned insect for her egg to feed on when it hatches. The darker bits are still wet, and she works it like a little potter,  she then covered the whole 13 cells with another layer of mud for good luck !
