2011-03-10 THE NEW DOOR

We decided to buy a new door.........nothing from any of the DIY shops would fit, so we had it made, Valentin and Robin, using wood from Frederic took about 3 months to produce a beauty of a door, all we need is the castle to go with it !!

It is what the english call a 'stable door', and the French call a 'farm door', this alone caused our first problems.

Here it is being made :-

Have just realised that i had forgotton to say that it is finest white oak.....dried for about 8 years in the beer cellar at Dausse !

Fab door - good job Kiwi has an alternative mode of exit and entry as I see this door is too posh for a cat flap! Frances x
