2010-04-30 Our Holiday in the Var (cote d'Azure)

As Holidays go, this was a memorable one!!

Ann arriving at Beziers airport
In a market in Frejus with garlic!

Cork Oaks, striped of their cork....

Table d'orientation number one.....
Back at base camp

Gin & Tonic ??

Anyone know what shrub this is??

Then we had a trip along the coast from Cannes to St Aygulf......the day they had the biggest storm in the med since 1985.......here are the pictures to prove it, it was reported that somewhere there were 6m high waves.....

We tried to act normal as rocks the size of footballs were hurled onto the promenade.

Table d' orientation number 2
remember when the man comes out of the little house, it's going to rain ?

This is Villecroze where there is a fortress carved into the rock, complete with windows and arrow slits, one window is behind the water fall as you will see in these pics...

the 'rock' is in fact Tufa which is the calcium in the water, depositing to form 'waterfalls' of stone, these are sometimes thousands of years old.

then on the same day we drove the Gorge du Verdon, this is the lac at the top, Lac st Croix.

Table d'orientation 3

This is the house we almost bought........right down in the bottom of the valley.

Here is the house we almost bought.........a lucky escape i think, much prefer Cailho !!! This is Trigance the village the house is nearish to....

So wet tired and a little soggy.....we decided that Cailho was a better bet, with a nice warm fire, so we came home a day early......here is one of the rain storms on our way home !!

Did it smell divine? Not sure but it looks a bit like a pink frangipani - related to the nerium oleander. JKLM
